EMERGENCY CARE

If you or your child faces a dental emergency, give us a call immediately. We are always here to assist you with your dental health. Contact our office at 503.243.6111.

Below are a few tips on dealing with urgent dental situations.

Object Caught in Teeth

If you have something caught between your teeth, use dental floss to remove it gently. Never use a metal, plastic, or sharp tool to remove a stuck object. If you are unable to remove the item with dental floss, give us a call.

Broken, Chipped, or Fractured Tooth

If your tooth chips or breaks, call our office. In many cases, one of our dentists can have the problem repaired on the same day.

Knocked-Out Tooth

If your tooth has been knocked out, find the tooth taking care to only touch the crown of the tooth (the chewing portion of the tooth). Place the tooth in a clean container with milk. Call our office to schedule an appointment. If you act quickly it’s possible to save the tooth.

*This only applies to permanent teeth, baby teeth can not be re-implanted.

Toothache

Oftentimes, toothaches present as a sharp, persistent pain that only responds minimally to pain relievers. Do not apply any kind of aspirin or topical pain reliever directly to the affected area, as this can cause damage to the surrounding tissue. Call our office to schedule and evaluate.

Avoiding Injury

You can help avoid dental emergencies. Be careful when eating hard candies, and popcorn. And if you or your child plays contact sports, a mouth guard is a great way to avoid damaging your teeth. Ask us about creating a custom-fitted mouth guard for you or your child.

Finally, prevent toothaches with regular brushing, flossing, and preventive visits to our office.
